Today, as I was doing the morning count for the registers, a lady walked by and saw me. She's got Alzheimer's, and thought I was robbing the guy I'd bought the store from, so she called the cops. I spent six hours in jail while they looked into it, and didn't even get an apology. FML

Wow, I hope she doesn't do it again tomorrow! And the next day, and the next day...

They do need to apologise for wrongful arrest, though, #4.

I don't really believe this to be true because, even though cops aren't that bright sometimes, I don't think they're stupid enough to believe a woman with Alzheimer's over the store employee. But still, if this is real. That really sucks.

Legal systems tend to be retarded about that. Even if you're innocent, you're screwed. I got kicked out of college for a year and spent a night in the holding cell for being accused of something I didn't do. The case was thrown out of court as soon as it started but I still got screwed.

hahaha. next time u see her..hit her and run...by the time to cops show up..she won't remember who you are, or what you looked like... or you'll end up in jail again :)

That's why you twirl your key and whistle nonchalantly.

What is a woman with Alzheimer's doing, walking around by herself? That's a really fishy part of the story. People with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia need to be accompanied by someone else at all times to make sure they don't end up in danger.

For those saying 'why would the officer believe an elderly woman with Alzheimer over the store owner?' First of all, they don't know she has Alzheimer. Second of all, the police have a duty to inspect any suspicious behavior, especially if the woman strongly claims that the OP is not the store owner, and is robbing the place. Third of all, none of us know the whole story, so we do not in fact know why the OP didn't count the money somewhere out of view, could it be that maybe because he didn't think an old lady with Alzheimer would call the police on him? Finally, even if it somehow is the store owner's fault for counting money in his register, the policemen should still have apologized for the wrongful arrest.

they usually say something like sorry for your inconvience and they cant hold you without grounds and an old lady with Alzheimers doesnt seem like any judge would take that as grounds
