Today, as I was doing the morning count for the registers, a lady walked by and saw me. She's got Alzheimer's, and thought I was robbing the guy I'd bought the store from, so she called the cops. I spent six hours in jail while they looked into it, and didn't even get an apology. FML

Wow, I hope she doesn't do it again tomorrow! And the next day, and the next day...

They do need to apologise for wrongful arrest, though, #4.

Show the cops your business license and an ID? Sorry, I'm not buying the jail time.

this is bullshit they would of looked into it before you even went to jail. They probably would of called the guy to come to the store to confirm it.

No, this isn't BS, he was the owner, so who would they call #32? And its the law that they can detain him. Not bs

Why not pull out your license to operate the business??????

Wow #30, 99% of cops are corrupt? What are you, a 17 year old who just got caught smoking weed?

I half and half agree with #11. I used to work at a TCBY that was conjoined with a Ceasers, coffee place, and Subway so there is no way to count the money alone since there is always someone there but since it seems your shop was a individual place, you could have taken the money tray to the back room where no one is watching you.

#3... so people with Alzheimers just don't count anymore? honestly, that was a terrible thing to say. #37... if you're NOT being sarcastic, then you're just stupid. there was no way for her to know that he was the new owner, especially if she knew the old owner well. @poster, i feel bad for you. that must suck, and she SHOULD have apologized. but we must see the old lady's side of the story, too.

#5 - "Wrongful arrest" implies that he was arrested and charged. It sounds like he was just being held for probable cause. Still yes, an apology would have been nice. #37 - This is when I say too many Americans sue for the stupidest of reasons. If I were a judge I'd kick the case out. It was an unfortunate issue of miscommunication and confusion. You don't sue an elderly lady with Alzheimer's for it.
