Today, as I was driving, a bird swooped down, right in front of my car. I didn't have enough time to react, and so I had to listen to my wife cry the rest of the way home. She kept talking about how it bounced off the windshield and how it probably had a family. FML

I can understand getting upset in a situation like this. However, crying about it for an extended period of time is a bit excessive. It sucks, but things like this happen :/

next time she wants u to kill a spider, u should spend a good hour crying about its legs curling up when it died and it having a family

Screw that! Spiders are evil and must be destroyed!

Because unthinking simple athropods are exactly the same as complex thinking avians with the same emotions as primates.

At least it didn't break through and hurt you all or cause an accident - your wife still has a family!

would she rather you had swerved and risk an accident with your own family?

There's an old wives tale that if a bird hits your windshield then someone in your family or you know will die soon

The OP's wife was crying because she was worried that the bird had a family. It doesn't say anything about a stupid old wives tale.

No. The wives tale is if a bird flies into your house, someone in your family will die soon.

That is not an old wives tale, it doesn't exist. The old wives tale is if a bird flies into your closed house window, someone close to you will die. House window, not a car windshield.

What if you own a bird? Someone is slowly dying?

We are all during from the day we are born. That's why people keep multiple birds in a coup. Its to shorten the average lifespan of the human race.

22 and 26 thanks for correcting me, the actual tale must have been altered when I heard it. But I had so many birds fly through my childhood home that everyone I've ever known should've passed by now lol

That birds family will probably sue you.

Tell her that roadkill will feed another animal's family.

this might seem harsh but most of the time it is better to hit the animal then to try and swerve out our the way anyways. what if you got in a major wreck because of it and someone in the vehicle died?
