Today, at my job working retail, I had just finished cleaning and straightening a whole aisle. This kid watched me do the whole thing. When I was done, he stuck his arm out, and ran it down the whole shelf, knocking everything off it. His mother just grabbed his hand and walked away. FML

I once worked retail and this lady kept bringing stuff up to the counter and telling me to put it back. This happened 5 times before she decided she didn't want anything in the store

Wouldn't that be better than a customer that just leaves ex: a gallon of ice cream in the bread section because they were too lazy to put it back?

@22 no, this is way worse. We can easily move that back, but cleaning up what op is describing would take about 30x as long and is a bitch because you have to redo work you've already done.

I would've been like this goes back on aisle bah bah. or you can place it in the basket *points* over there where we restock everything. one time and she wouldn't do it again

Yaaaayyyy retail (I work at target, I completely understand)

I ******* hate most children and the parents who can't make sure they dont do stupid shit.

I hated hated working in retail, sorry OP I can only imagine the rage you felt. The worse part is you can't say anything to the customers because you can get in trouble.

PANDORUM89 21

you can say something and as long as you are justified you won't get anything more than a hey maybe don't say that. at worst you'll get a write up. I take a write up anyway over letting someone treat me like shit. it's minimum wage, not slavery

lennon_ 16

Yes sometimes saying something doesn't come with consequences but there's also a bit of a limit on how many write ups you can get when there is consequences. I needed my job in retail and I would have kept my mouth shut at times in order to not get fired. In my opinion I'm not going to be successful in life if I keep talking back, there are times when you need to defend yourself but it really needs to be necessary.

oh I certainly agree! if you went off on every rude person you'd be gone in the first week. but sometimes big assholes come along like the OP met and those are times I would speak up. def not for EVERY wrong doing but just the big ones.

Look on the bright side you won't have that job forever.

I feel ya, OP. I've worked retail/front end. It has not and never will be kind to us. Small store customers are usually alright; giant, multi-million stores? Discard the thought; a grand majority of customers, whether its just a kid running around unsupervised or with mommy and daddy, are assholes.

Wtf is wrong with people these days. If that were my child I'd be embarrassed and apologizing to the clerk, helping pick up the items and certainly making my kid help pick it up, too. And he'd get a time out when we get home to sit his butt down and think about what he did and how thoughtless it was... But I don't plan to have children, so this is just hypothetically what I'd do.

You'd be surprised how many parents let their kids do shit like that. I do not miss working at a grocery store.

As a supervisor at my store, I feel your ire.

When I was younger that almost happened only I stuck my foot out and tripped the kid.
