Today, both of my grandparents died in a car accident. My Mom and Dad thought it would make me feel better to know they were not my real grandparents, because I'm adopted. FML

Today, I learned I was adopted and that my parents had died in a car accident when I was really young. My girlfriend was sitting next to me when I got the news, and several hours later broke up with me in a text stating, "I don't want to be with someone who doesn't have real parents." FML

Today, my grandparents told me they couldn't make it to my college graduation, even with months in advance to plan, because they had their annual Mother's Day plans with friends. Plans they've had every year, and are further away. This was the only time I'll ever have a graduation ceremony. My grandpa is my last biological grandparent. FML

Today, my grandfather was counting all the grandchildren he had and saying how fortunate he was to have all of us. When I pointed out that he'd forgotten to count me, he turned and said "You're adopted, you don't count as a real grandchild" FML

Today, I went to visit my grandparents, as my grandmother may not have long left. When my stepfather wasn't grilling my visibly uncomfortable grandad about Bible passages, my mother was trauma-dumping about how hard her life has been, and how awful her marriage to my father was. They're his parents. FML

Today, I was sitting at home when the police knocked on my door. They came inside, sat me down and told me that both my parents died in a car crash tonight. I started to cry, but about 10 minutes later, I find out they had the wrong person. I feel bad for the other guy. FML

I'm sorry op, I think your parents were consumed with grief that they forgot to be tactfull. Of course they were your real grandparents, family isn't always about blood.

I hope that is the case. If not, your parents fail as adoptive parents. If they really believe that about your grandparents, by that logic they do not consider themselves your "real" parents either. And that is an epic FYL.

I third the sentiment. They were probably not thinking clearly because of their grief. Their blood relation to you doesn't matter, because in the end they are still the ones who loved you. FYL indeed...but don't think too harshly of your parents. Loss makes us say stupid shit sometimes.

So... your parents decided to kill two birds with one stone, even though the accident itself had already done enough of that. I wonder when the irony will dawn on them.... *facepalm* If it's any consolation, OP, in perpetuating the falsehood that you were their biological grandchild (which I'm assuming was the case due to your response), I wouldn't be able to acknowledge them as the most considerate grandparents anyway, if I were you.
