Today, both of my grandparents died in a car accident. My Mom and Dad thought it would make me feel better to know they were not my real grandparents, because I'm adopted. FML

I'm pretty sure a lot of the YDIs on the ones that couldn't be anything but FYLs are trolls and/or smartasses. They just click it to be oh-so-bad.

You poor thing :-( To find out your grandparents (even if not blood related, they were still your family) are killed THEN find out that you're adopted. Ugh. That sucks. I bet those 2 events threw you for a loop. Let yourself grieve- it's healthy. Good luck with the healing.

how is being adopted so bad? its not only about blood i am and yes my birth mom is an amazing mother and s till is but was at a bad time in her life but my brith dad is any kinda father an one want ( even tho he had 8 or so kids) if ur paretns beat u all the time and were horrble but i am guess just guess uv had an ok life so stop complaying and bitching be more upset ur grandparents died

I myself am adopted. And I've known my whole life. I'm now 18 years old and I can still say I absolutely resent my birth parents. It's not like my adoptive parents were bad or anything; being adopted just leaves a big hole in your life and affects every aspect of it. I'm completely against adoption in every way.

I know I'm replying wayyy late, but 86 OP wasn't necessarily saying being adopted is a bad thing. However, it was a pretty shitty way and time to find out. The parents only just told OP because the grandparents had died. I'm sure it's quite a shock when you're in a grieving process.

What confuses me, though, is that the grandparents were the biological parents of either of the OP's parents. Shouldn't they be grieving, too, as opposed to dropping that on their son?
