Today, feeling very distant from my daughter recently, I decided to sneak a peek in her diary to see what was on her mind. The book was apparently one of those that play the sound of a woman screaming when opened improperly, and alerted everyone in the house to my actions. FML

So, instead of talking to your daughter you'd rather snoop through her stuff and invade her private sanctum. She obviously knows that this is your personality, otherwise she wouldn't bother to rig up her diary. No wonder you two are distant.

Wow, great parenting! Good job. You couldn't talk to your daughter instead of going ahead with a complete invasion of privacy? How would you like it if she pawed through your things and found your diary full of the intimate details of your life? Your relationships, your deepest personal thoughts, and maybe your freaky sexual fantasies? Can you see how that would be a LITTLE unpleasant? It's called communication...try it! While you're at it, learn to parent properly and respectfully! Your snooping is just going to put a much bigger rift between you and your daughter, because you betrayed her trust and right to privacy--and that's completely your own fault. Do you think she's going to trust you and want to share anything with you now? Completely, 100% YDI, I hope you realize just what a shitty thing you did and learned a lesson to never pull that crap again!

I searched for diaries with alarms.. The only one I found was a "Disney princess secret diary" either your daughter is very young or she has some other issues that you need to look at..... Hmmm.....

I wish I had a diary like that as a kid. The only reason a parent should EVER invade their child's privacy is if the child does something horrible enough to no longer deserve privacy. Your daughter has every right to hate you.
