Today, for karaoke, I sang American Woman by Lenny Kravitz. The entire audience cracked up laughing and at least three people pulled out their cell phones to record my performance. At the end, the DJ said, "Looks like someone had too much tonight." I was completely sober. FML

Today, I was at a karaoke bar. After a few drinks, I gave it a go. Halfway through “Total Eclipse of the Heart” I got so into it, I knocked over the mic stand. The mic flew off, hit the DJ, who then hit the emergency stop button, cutting off the music. I froze as the bar erupted into laughter. I did get a free Coke for my “performance,” which was something. Kravitz remade it so they both have versions he could have sung it lennys way. the guess who for whoever asked earlier is a Canadian band but not a tribute they made their own songs.

there are so many grammar nazi's here. my gosh. this was a funny FML though :)

That is so sad. People aren't encouraging at all. The whole point of karaoke, rockband, guitar hero, ect. is that you don't have to be a good singer! it's just fun! Wow. people these days.

Good lord, (mostly) all of you are ridiculous. 1.) Wow, you are so impressive. You know who originally sang "American Woman." Did it ever occur to you that maybe the OP said he did karaoke to the song "American Woman" by Lenny Kravitz because that was the version that was offered on the song list, resulting in that being the song he performed? #97 - Clearly, the OP did not find it necessary, as you did, to prove how cool and knowledgeable he was (assuming he did even know this trivial fact) by noting that it was, in fact, the Guess Who who originally did the song, and that the Lenny Kravitz version is a cover. There would be absolutely no point in stating that fact considering he sang the LENNY KRAVITZ VERSION. Simple as that. 2.) I assume most of you read the comments before posting, so why is it that every FML has comments written with the same content over and over again? I'll use this FML as an example. There are 122 comments responding to this post, and I would say 90% of them, or so, go something like this: "Oh my god, you are so dumb! "American Woman" is originally done by the Guess Who, not Lenny Kravitz! YDI!" or "TOO, not TO, idiot!" If somebody else has already said what you were intending to write, there really isn't a point in commenting at all, unless you can come up with something original to write. 3.) To all of the people saying the OP deserves it for not knowing he couldn't sing, I don't see anywhere in the post that he thought he could sing. I would imagine that the FML is because people were actually laughing at him and recording him on their phones instead of just having fun and dancing, singing along, clapping, etc., like the audience would typically do. That's just my opinion, of course. //end rant, I suppose.

People sometimes think I'm drunk and/or on serious drugs when I'm completely sober because I do strange things (apparently). It just means we're outside the realm of acceptable social behavior, which is a positive in my book.

I'm sure everyone knows that the original song is done by The Guess Who but that's not the version of the song he chose to sing
