During late 1960's, on my 10th birthday, I got a homemade cake, and a 100 piece-puzzle. Dad was out of work. I was used to getting more. I was hurt that my mom had to sacrifice just to get me that one simple present; or maybe I was sad when I realized we were "poor" (who knows why you think what you do at that age). I am positive that I did NOT think that my life was f'd and over. Now in my 50's, I wish I had that long ago puzzle... it truly is one of the only presents from my growing up days that I remember.
