Is she controlling a large inheritance of yours? If not, tell her to **** off! Parents with large estates can control their kids from beyond the grave. Free money ain't free.
Are you Muslim, OP? I'm a Muslim myself and we are forbidden to own any dogs, no matter their friendliness or size. They're considered "dirty" (I honestly love dogs, but my parents make me abide by Islam's rules and moral code).
I didn't know that. That sucks though. I love dogs.
You can keep dogs - there are just some rules for keeping them .I come from a Muslim family too, my grandfather kept dogs but he kept his dogs outside the house, only bringing them in in bad weather or when they were ill or something. My mum kept hers inside. I'm studying to be a vet, and run a shelter so my dogs are all over the place.
I'm muslim too & have a dog that I adore. The main things you need to do is to keep the dog away from the place where you pray & to wash / clean the places his saliva, urine, & stool has touched. If you interact with the dog often just make sure to perform your wudou' before every prayer. My dog used to live in the tv room with AC that was separate from the main house, then we moved & now he roams everywhere except the bedrooms. It takes a little more effort but his little face is worth it :)
Wow, for a moment there I had a flashback of my own mother. The day I had my son she told me to get rid of my cat and no more pets in the house, I was also 28 and living in my own home. Please kill me if I ever become this sort of controlling, overbearing parent. I never want that.
I never understood why some people dumped their dogs as soon as they had a child. Like the pet was their pretend child or something. I kept all my pets after my kids were born, and nothing beats a dog for cleaning up when toddlers drop food. Plus research now shows that kids raised with pets have better immune systems.
And you called to...,. ?
Everybody is saying to do what you want, respect your parents no matter what.
There is a difference between respecting your parents and obeying their every little whim. OP can respect and love his mom and still tell her to **** off. Though maybe a little more polite wording might be in order.
There's a line. OP doesn't have to tell Mom to **** off, but Mom needs to learn some respect too. OP is an adult and it is not Mom's place to tell him how many dogs he can have.
Some cities have ordinances about how many animals it allowed to have depending on the type... might wanna look in to that
That's really not the point of this FML.
Get as many dogs your heart contents its your life don't let her live it for you

Get dogs to your heart's content*
then she has no say in the matter. what's the problem?
Quite simple really: Your house your rules. Unless you are breaking the law do whatever the **** you want
I got the same from my mom. I've been on my own since I was 25 and even now she still tried to dictate/sensor my life. It's frustrating.

That's when you call and sternly tell her you don't give a ****. Get as many puppers as you can care for OP!!!
She can't control you. Just ignore her and live with your two dogs.
