Today, I asked my boss for a raise, explaining that another shop offered me a job at a higher rate, but I would stay if he would offer me the same. Instead, he fired me then called the other shop and said I was fired for failing a drug test. FML

Your boss is an asshole! There has to be someone you can contact because he is out of line.

Sue him for it, then explain the situation to the other place that offered the job, and ask them to do a drug test if they don't believe you.

I smell a lawsuit and I foresee you becoming very rich

I'm with everyone else. You likely have a lawsuit. He had no right to fire you like that.

Lawsuit time! Generally it's dangerous to do that, even if you stay it will likely antagonize your current employer, generally just best to take the other job and leave,,,,but he sure was a spiteful jackass about it, not even sure if what he did was legal,,,I would definitely investigate it,,,,,

It definitely wasn't, what he did was defamation of character (slander) and depending on jurisdictions it can be a criminal act, but it is always a civil wrong. And if he has written up the OP as failing a drug test for reason of termination in legal documents without evidence then that definitely is a crime. This is one of those rare fmls where 'Sue him!' is the only fair and logical response.

That breaks slander laws, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh, oh man I am so sorry. IF you can prove it and if you can gather enough material to make him/her out to be the snake s/he really is, you can seriously sue that company.

Dude due for being fired under false pretenses, when he can't provide the test results hell prove himself to be in the wrong, detox first though, just in case lol

Never be loyal to a company. They will remind you are expendable.
