Today, I asked my boss for a raise, explaining that another shop offered me a job at a higher rate, but I would stay if he would offer me the same. Instead, he fired me then called the other shop and said I was fired for failing a drug test. FML

YDI for telling your boss where you got the offer. You always tell your current employer as little as possible about interviews or offers until your new job is a sure thing and you put in your two weeks. Just because stuff like this happens.

I don't think your boss should have gone that far, but on the other hand, threatening to leave unless he gives you a raise does sound kinda harsh. Depending on the circumstances, it may or may not have been the right thing for you to do, in my opinion.

Your Fulton for telling him where the other job is and u should charge him with wrongful dismissal and you can probaly find a charge for calling potential employers and telling lies
