Today, I got a puppy. I just found out I can't bring it on the family trip. To save me the trouble of finding a friend to take her in, my mum handed her back to the pound. FML

Today, I found my dog, who had been missing for over a month, at the local pound. Clearly it was my dog, she responded to her name and cried when she saw me. However, the woman there told me I could not simply take her, I had to follow through with all policies. I paid $250 to adopt my own dog. FML

Today, I went to my father's house to get my dog, since I had left it with him while I was on a business trip. When I got there, my dad said the dog pooped on the floor a few days ago, and so he took him to the pound. FML

Today, I brought back the puppy I adopted for my family. I spent months doing all the research on puppy care with two young children, and at least five hundred dollars for the dog, the supplies, toys… the whole lot. Turns out everyone's allergic to her. FML

Today, my girlfriend broke up with me over the phone, after having left me to look after her dog while she went on a 2-week vacation with her family. Now I have to choose between paying for a kennel for her damn dog or taking care of it every day until she gets back. FML

Today, after I went to live with my biological mom, after she convinced me she’s been off drugs while I was living with my grandparents, she gave me one of two puppies she'd bought as a gift. Then she got arrested. Turns out she stole said puppy. Some things never change. FML

Today, my mother-in-law "borrowed" my dog without asking, to show him off to her friends. My dog is my service animal, and I'm not comfortable leaving the house without him. I have to be at work in an hour, and she's not picking up her phone. FML

You could, I dunno, retrieve the puppy and STAY HOME FROM THE VACATION to take care of it? I'll assume that since they let you adopt it, you're old enough to be home by yourself without dying in a toilet accident or something. On second thought, leave it. Sounds like the puppy might just be better off at the pound.

Dog: Today, I finally got a new mommy and home. I was SO happy. She wanted to go on a vacation, so she sent me to a scary dirty mean place. They'll kill me in 3 days. FML! Who the hell would buy a puppy right before they know they're going on a trip?

I must be reading this wrong because it sure sounded to me like the OP wasn't given the chance to make any arrangements like cancelling (which I would do anyway because I'd be too pissed) or find a puppy-sitter.
