Wait a sec, you were able to choose a goodie bag WHAT IF MONEY WAS IN ONE OF THE BAGS!? If thats the case thats one sly old lady and you have bad luck D:
dont worry about it, you helped out an old lady and thats what matters :)
I was thinking the same thing as #19 when I read this xD
YDI for trying to get money out of an elderly woman.
#127/ naysay91: "Paid" is definitely the more correct form, if "payed" is even considered acceptable anywhere (which I have never seen). Speaking of which, #121 / dswhite85, it's "DEED". D-E-E-D. "Dead" means someone is no longer alive. A "deed" is either an action (a good DEED) or a piece of paper (title DEED to a property). Either way, these comments are full of all sorts of assumptions and logical fallacies based on information that isn't in the FML. The YDI is for not arranging for the type and amount of payment in advance. With that SOLE EXCEPTION, I sympathize with the OP. If you have reason to believe you'll get paid, it's a let-down when you don't, even if you would have done it for free otherwise. Personally, I LIKE helping people move, so I would do it for love or for money. (Let's face it. I need the exercise.) But I DON'T like getting jerked around. If you say you're going to pay me, I'm going to find out how much before we start, because you can bet your ass I'm not going to be happy with a little toy race car. (That's a lie too. My daughter would LOVE a toy race car, but still. It's a sneaky thing to do to someone who spends four hours moving all your shit around.)
Stop complaining OP you did something nice and the lady was clearly greatful for yout help- isn't that payment enough? This is a lesson to all, we shouldn't be paid for every little thing we do as a favour to others, we're becoming too greedy.
Can't you just offer help to an elderly person and not expect a payment. I do that often and they usually offer me $10 or $20. Seems karma takes care of the payment.
