Today, I busted my ass to help this old lady move her stuff because she was going to a nursing home. I was told I would get paid. When I finished four hours later the lady took me to a room and told me to pick out anything in her little goody bag. I got a race car as payment. FML

#3 definitely. I think that's SO sweet of her to let you pick something out of her goody bag. The fact that she refers to it as a 'goody bag' warms my heart. Why can't people do nice things for other people without expecting something in return?

If a person is going into a home, it's because they are at a point where they are physically/mentally unable to care for themselves anymore. YDI in that you should have realized this, AND never do a job without establishing and agreeing on salary first. Chalk it up to you did a good deed for someone in need, quit whining, and go on with your life.

Haha I totally symathise; elderly always leave me a tip of a small stack of nickels and say "you were so helpful" In their day that was a good tip. Oh well, sucks but feel good you helped someone who probably really needed it

Where were all you moralistic ***** when that old lady needed help? Instead of bashing people here, go out and help some old people! Isn't that what you think is the duty of OP? You guys just complain the guy should had done it for free, but you aren't doing it yourself. And maybe he needed the money as much as the old lady did? Has anyone thought about it? Maybe he's struggling to pay for college or university, or maybe his mother is sick and needs money for her treatment. Douche bags.
