Today, I came home from work to find the front door wide open, the stove on, my 5 year old cutting up the curtain, and my 2 year old smearing chocolate sauce on the floor. My fiancé was nowhere to be found. Later on, I got a text from him saying that he'd gone to watch the footy. FML

My father was an alcoholic and often made us watch him beat my siblings and my mother. He also put himself first: he spent all his money on himself and he had to shovel the food from the table onto his plate first. It did not matter to him if there wasn't enough for the rest of us. Now, the rest of my family is here in America while my father rots in Ukraine. To this day, i can't talk to him on the phone because he is always talking to me like dirt. I haven't seen him in over 13 years, and i turned out great. Graduated high school with honors and get for straight A's in college. This is just to prove the point that chilfren can grow up happy and healthy without a father. As far as OP's fiance, breaking with him might be over the top in my mind. But she should definitely postpone the marriage. Men that do things like that are unlikely to change, but i think there is hope for him.

I admire you, after all you've been through you still see the good in people. Men like that are unlikely to change though, if they were his kids this makes it worse but I suspect they're not. The OP needs to call time on that relationship, otherwise the next time (and there will be a next time) she might not be so lucky.
