Today, I came out to my dad. He called me weak minded and said that he has never been more disappointed in me. I didn't come out as gay. I came out as a vegetarian. FML

FYL, but imagine what your parents would think of you if you were a gay vegetarian, because mine have alienated me for both now.

Wait, aren't all vegetarians gay?

How did we get on the gay thing again. Please don't start that shit up here again, the bible beaters will join in and start another holy war that none of us really want to sift through in the comments section! For the record, OP didn't say he wasn't gay - he just said that's not what he was coming out about. If his Dad is this upset about OP eating carrots, how do you think he will react to sucking ****?!?

If you're researched and committed, then you have quite the will-power. I would never choose that life-style myself. But please, don't be like some of the jack-ass vegetarians I know who like to come up to me while I am eating and talk about how cruelly the animal I happen to be devouring was treated. Doing that will get you a nice black-eye with some meat-head some day xDD

aw, i sorry to hear that, i know what its like. but congrats on making the best decision of your life!!!!

Why would he be disappointed? I mean maybe if you were like heir to the family chain of butcher shops and slaughterhouses... but yeah there's really no disappointment in not eating meat

During this day and age, we people actually depend on eating meat. Same as how we depend on technology. So it is definitely fine if people eat meat. As for me, I'm a vegetarian. I don't stick it up peoples noses and what not unless they ask if I am one. Mm yeah, I've met some...pompous vegetarians before. It's really not a good sight :]

No one seemed to notice this possibility: Meat Allergies: "Summary: Meat allergy is normally outgrown during the first years of life, so that it is rare in adults. Beef among mammals and chicken among birds are most frequently involved." Sometimes people who are allergic to one type of meat or poultry might also react to other types. Cooking destroys some of the allergens in meat, but some people will still react to cooked meat. Processed meats, such as frankfurters, luncheon meats and pates, sometimes contain other ingredients, particularly milk products, as emulsifiers or flavour enhancers. So it's possible for someone who is allergic to milk to react to a meat product because it contains milk. For example, milk is sometimes used in chicken nuggets to stick the breadcrumbs to the chicken pieces.
