Today, I caught my teenage daughter doing her laundry for the first time ever. She had piles of black and white, but then she threw them together in the washing machine. I told her blacks and whites were supposed to be separate, but she just said, "End the segregation, mom." FML

Either your daughter is dumb or making it political?

I always put all of my colors together. Nothing happens. And I don't see how this lazy.

Is she going for the fifty shades of grey look?

most clothes have color safe dye in them so they won't bleed. combining colours in cold or even warm water doesn't do anything. I've done this for years and I've even put a brand new red towel in with my whites and nothing happened.

Just wash them in cold and do new jeans separately. I've never sorted my laundry and it hasn't been a problem.

I have a hamper with separate bags in it. That way, I can separate my clothes right as I putting them in the hamper, and not right before laundry day. Though I still wash everything in cold, regardless of color.

I get where she's coming from, kind of, but maybe some different phrasing might have helped prevent this... Or your daughter's a moron.

I just throw all my clothes in together whites, darks, colors, lights and hope for the best.

sounds like she was just making a joke. I smiled. lighten up
