Your such a good example. Keep it up and you might win teacher of the year
I was showing a video, I've seen it a million times. I'm a great teacher, well respected amongst my peers and students.
This is going to sound stupid, but you should publicly punish yourself, and do it in a way that the kids will appreciate and like. Find some way to make them smile, laugh, or just look at you in a shocked way, all while saying "This is happening because I broke my own rule." It will show them that you are serious about your rules, that you don't consider yourself above them, and will definitely make the kids like you more.
Yeah, OP should give herself a note. Or a detention. Or she should beat her head against the wall until her brains explode, that will make the pupils look at her in a shocked way. Really, bro, I understand what you're saying (and I even agree a little bit), but it wouldn't be right, because teachers...well, they DO stand above their pupils. That's the power we have - and we also have the duty to use that power wisely. A public punishment may increase disrespectful behaviour against the teacher. The main problem here is just that giving a detention for falling asleep is way too hard. Maybe that kid has to work hard at home and barely has some sleep, who knows. The solution would be to apologize and (especially) to delete that rule. Then they know that you are aware of your mistake, without being laughed at.
Agreed 100%. Show them you're serious by giving yourself detention. You'll make them laugh and gain a lot of respect.
That is a great idea! I'm a teacher too and my kids respect me more when I do stuff like punishing myself or just saying when I break my own rules. Only Op should just make herself sharpen pencils or wash the board during class time. Something silly that stll makes the point to respect the rules.
Do you know how difficult it can be to stay awake in class for some kids? I had insomnia so I was always tired in class. I explained it to my teachers so they just let me sleep and then gave me the homework and some notes at the end of class.
Jeez. Woe is you. Haha. Like hell. YDI :-)
Don't enforce rules you can't keep yourself
Yeah she does...
let the students sleep if they need it,its their grades.

Typical teacher.
Funny how hypocrisy works. Don't give detention. Just wake them up. YDI for falling asleep.
