Today, I finally bought a car, after saving up for a year. My dealer had told me it was a good buy, so I snapped it up then and there. On the way home, the rear axle practically fell out of the car due to frame rot. My dealer wants to buy the car back at half the price. FML

"My dealer told me it was a good buy." No shit! What was he/she supposed to say? "No, this is a piece of crap just waiting to come apart the moment you take it off the lot. Now give me your money." Bad call on your part.

Why would you not check the car out for yourself and just take the word of a car salesman? You completely deserve that.

You should have asked for the CARFAX

You got lucky. There are plenty of FMLs where people don't even get refunds

You believed them? You ******' deserve it!!

i voted FYL, but I also voted YDI. Wtf were you thinking? Ofcourse the dealer is going to tell you the car is fine, are u ******* retarded? Thats like saying "An undercover cop assured me he wasnt a cop when he sold me drugs, but now I'm locked up." seriously dude, you can't be so trusting of people, we live in a ****** up world.

You're an idiot, but also, thanks to UK statutory law, he has to give you your money back. A full refund, not a half-price buy-back. Get trading standards on him, if he is an actual car dealer. If you bought it off "a friend of a friend of a friend", (and didn't check it out first) then you deserved to be ripped off.

Car dealers are melivolant for cheating people out of money. You should have done your research before buying the car. It sucks that you got tricked but you should have been smarter. Force him to give you all the money back else treaten with the police and a lawyer, they will probably be too afraid of how much they can lose and will give you the money back without hesitation.
