Well, if you incest.
I remember reading that its actually decently common and most people tend to get over it over time, but don't quote me on that.
I.. Just.. Oh dear.
just do it, what evs if you remain happy together for ever who gives a flying shit what others do / think.. remember it used to be very normal to maintain blood lines... yeah I'm going to be that guy mwhah
It's actually genetically built in to humans that we are not sexually attracted to our family. Humans aren't rabbits, we don't have a high enough mutation rate to sustain inbreeding.
Were y'all locked in an attic?
I love that movie!
I wondered if someone was going to mention that. Although I feel that movie/book series (yes it's a series, movies have been completed through to the end as well) probably had the siblings fall in love because they were at a fragile time in their lives, going through puberty, and had no one else to look at (since the twins were so young) and hence fell for each other.
Maybe it's because I don't have a brother, but I can't understand being attracted to a sibling. It's unsettling to me, but do what you will to be happy. If he reciprocates, please... just don't have biological children. The mutations (which occur almost 75% of the time with immediate family member inbreeding) will ruin their quality of life.
Interestingly enough, first generation incest doesn't produce any mutations or malformation in instances larger than most of the population unless there is a genetic disease lying dormant. It's once incest happens more than once that you start getting problems, genetically speaking.

I wonder if OP is confusing sexual attraction with something else? All they say is feelings which doesn't tell us much. Because you can have feelings for someone with being sexually attracted to someone. Either way OP should see a counselor to make sure everything is ok with them (not saying they are mentally ill, but a counselor could help them figure out their feelings).
This if ****** up but I'm not sure whether to validate this or say YDI. Maybe some counseling would help?
Who cares? If it's consensual and they are of the age, who is anyone to judge? We are all technically related. OP I'm sorry for you going through this situation, it is still frowned upon by many these day.
It should be frowned upon?? Incest is a crime. Doesn't matter if "we're all technically related." There are plenty of men to fall in love with that aren't your brother.
#92, incest absolutely is a crime in most states, and it's definitely a crime in Texas. It extends to siblings, half-siblings, and siblings by adoption, and includes any type of intercourse.
Everyone is talking like incest is going to be the next thing legalized, but here's what they don't realize: Incest used to be a thing, especially amoung the rich. And then we got our shit together and realized all the ways in which it was problematic and made it illegal. No one is being oppressed here. There are many valid reasons why incest has become illegal, so don't go acting like it's just bad because society says so. Those of privilege and wealth used to practice incest, and if you think that society just wanted to oppress the wealthy, you need to go read some history books.
The thing is, people would still have a problem with it even if it was between two infertile siblings that never met until they became adults, where there'd be no power dynamic. I feel like people have a normal instinct to be disgusted by it but they make up any reasons they can think of to justify the disgust even if there isn't a logical reason. And no, I'm not pro-incest, I'm just seeing really bad arguments from both sides of the debate.
In all honesty, things like that have happened and most people just say "Yuck, that's unfortunate" and leave it at that. We dont have a visceral reaction to it in more of these circumstances, to the point where most people could watch star wars without being overly disturbed, but would be if they were close siblings who had been raised together. It's the family aspect that makes people so disturbed.
#93, I never said its wrong to love your family. It is, however, wrong to **** your family.
