Today, I finally put the finishing touches on my first vacation in over two years, due to my hellish work schedule. The Governor essentially just vetoed my vacation with evacuation orders. Thanks, Hurricane Irene. FML

Hurricane Irene has ruined a lot of vacations... Sorry OP.

Im actually on my way back from mine, due to mandatory evacuations

My name is Irene, imagine how I must feel, people are all yelling at me :[ Sucks though OP, in the name of hurricane Irene I apologise.

At least your name isn't Katrina and you live in new Orlean

Well, I would welcome both you an the hurricane, Irene. Course everyone is freaking that Vegas is hitting 112f... Psh that's nothing!

I can't read a headline these days without thinking of you Doortje! It's one thing to have your name on a random hurricane, it's another to have it on one that people are going to remember! Come to think of it, you should post this as a FML!!

The op worked his/her ass off for 2 years in a horrible economy planned for a vacation only for a major inconvenience which practically ruined the op chance of relaxation for what could be another 2 years. Think about the op's situation before you comment you ARROGANT PRICK

Funny, everyone I know was hoping Irene would hit OUR TOWN so school would be cancelled but NOOOO Irene had to go east!!! Come back Irene! I need you D:

It is coming right for me I guess. It is supposed to hit Rhode Island on Sunday, Monday is when I start school. The roof of our school already sucks and with a lot of rain we won't be starting soon in that school at least.

The roof of my school suck. The hurricane is coming to my home state of RI on Sunday. There's a good chance of no school on the first day of school.

My school is a hurricane shelter. >_>

We were hoping it would head our way and finally give us some much needed rain in Texas. But we did get a pretty good shower today and it cooled the temps down to 99 a much welcome thing after almost a month straight of 100+ degree weather.

Unless you're staying in a private home you're renting out, I'd just push it back 2 or 3 weeks. You're not out any money unless you're renting and didn't buy travel insurance. September is still nice either at the Jersey Shore or in OBX, and if you really need a vacation, work can wait. Hopefully this bitch Irene (the Hurricane) will go out to sea or weaken considerably and you can resume your vacation on Monday or Tuesday. I wish anyone luck who's in the path of this storm.

OP probably can't push it back because of their job. This was the week they had off, not two or three weeks from now.

and I have to experience it all over again wen I came Back home just to find the hurricane barreling towered my hometown

If it makes you feel better, we have to evacuate too. Everyone on the coast does, basically.

That just suck. What do you work as you work hard. I life in Rhode Island and every one is freaking out. I've never seen one but I hope it isn't really strong a cool Cat 1.
