Today, I finally put the finishing touches on my first vacation in over two years, due to my hellish work schedule. The Governor essentially just vetoed my vacation with evacuation orders. Thanks, Hurricane Irene. FML

Today, I have to reschedule the vacation I had planned for eight months because I have the flu, and feel too sick to go and enjoy myself at a waterpark. This vacation is the only thing that's kept me sane these last two months. FML

Today, I was enjoying my first vacation day in 2 years. My boss then called me to come in, saying it was an emergency. I got to work and got fired. Yes, my boss made me come in just to fire me. FML

Today, while on vacation, I got fired for not working a shift I wasn't scheduled for. Even after texting my boss a copy of my vacation approval letter, she still fired me. FML

Today, I lost my job for taking an unauthorized vacation. I just got married and requested time off for the wedding and honeymoon months ago; it was approved then. They forgot, and then got angry because I didn't remind them. I did remind them, the day before I left. FML

Today, after realizing I had 130 unused vacation hours, I requested two weeks off. My vacation time was denied, but my boss still gave me the time off. So I don't have work for 2 weeks, all unpaid. FML

I live in south Louisiana. Katrina sucked. They literally forgot about my town for over a week. So like, we didn't have water, ice, food, etc for over a week until they got here. Then no power for over a month. I sure hope Irene isn't as bad as Katrina was because I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

well...people should have left before Katrina arrived in Louisiana. You know how hard it was for them to access parts hit hard by Katrina? They tried their best to get people who just did not want to leave when they were told they should. Im sorry to sound blunt...but thats how i feel. Also, how would you still be alive without water for a week? You die after 3 days without water usually.

I can't get over this FML. boo hoo my vacation is ruined. Well my family lives on the Outer Banks and they are fleeing for their lives knowing that there is a possibility that when they come back their home and everything they own might be gone forever. All the while you are sitting safe at home. I feel SO sorry for you. And those saying they are staying at their vacation house out of principle: Thanks for endangering the lives of firefighters and other EMT employees who will have to risk their lives to save you because you didn't folllow MANDATORY orders. One of those might have to be my father. I can't believe people these days.
