No matter how 'privileged' she should feel for living at home rent free, no parent should ever swear at their kids like that... They're only setting a terrible example n will raise rude kids
You're caring about the swearing part? That seems the least of this person's problems. The real problem is that her father promised to pay and didn't do it. Now THAT will raise ****** up kids (yes, I said the f-word), not the fact that he swore. I swear fairly often and am a very nice person, if I may say so myself!
Aww sorry OP. Some dads are just like that sadly. Whenever Id ask my dad for money after doing stuff Id get the "I raised and paid for you for 18 years, now its time you paid that back" lecture. Its still screwed up though that he promised and didnt come through. A man is only as good as his word. Maybe try doing some of that stuff for a neighbor or something and get paid that way? Good Luck.
That's why you get the money FIRST
OP if you're living under his roof and not paying rent, you shouldn't get paid. Earn your keep, builds character which it looks like most of the other posters don't have.
Nice double post. Anyways, the OP didn't ask to be born, so she shouldn't have to pay rent.
Oh shut up. How do you even know how old the OP is? He could be 15 or something, and what loser parent would make a 15 year old pay rent? Or even worse, sets an example for the kid by going back on his word and swearing him out?
Do you know what else builds character? Honouring your promises, and not telling your daughter to "get ******" when you go back on your word. All he is doing is telling her it's okay to be a douchebag.
I had a job at 15 and did chores for my family for free without bitching about not being paid. I'm sure the "get ******" is being over exaggerated it sounds like her father was messing with her and taught her a valuable lesson life isn't fair and that unless it's in writing don't expect shit from anyone. I guess this world is just full of lazy entitled people. And really mowed the lawn and cleaned windows I hope she didn't stress to hard.
Did your parents promise to pay you for doing something and then back out of it? If not, then shut up and get off your soapbox.

That's all well and good, except that the father promised OP money if she did the windows. Do you know what else builds character? Honouring your agreements and not telling your daughter to "get ******" when you don't feel like keeping a promise anymore.
Here I thought the response should be: "Happen to have a call guy's number, or should I ask mom?"
I have empathy for you Op. I have been in a similar situation several times with my dad, it sucks to be promised something by a parent and then brushed aside when you manage to finally ask for it.
next time: cash upfront
