A) you wait until you leave to turn your phone on... B) your mom is retarded for sending a text telling you to turn your phone off...
I had taken the SAT yesterday as well, and one of the announcements given by the proctor both at the end and the beginning of the testing session was not to use any electronic devices until all tests were collected and all who had taken the test were dismissed from the testing room. I'm not sure if you received the same warning or not, but you should have learned this already from when you had registered for the test. Next time, wait until dismissal to use anything. Collegeboard is very sensitive about this (although their worries are a bit too extreme, in my opinion), so you will need to comply.
i took the SAT. i leave my phone in the car = ) that way you can't possibly get in trouble. = )
agree with #161, when i took my SAT's i finished each section with just 2-3 min remaining, how can you even have time to take you phone out and turn it on and stuff, well bad for you there goes your 40 dollars
Hope you learned your lesson. Phones are evil.

Why would you ever, ever turn your phone on when still in the room? You deserve that twice.
you deserve that sooo much...they repeat over and over again DO NOT TURN YOUR PHONE ON UNTIL YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING, is it that hard to be away from your cell phone for two seconds in order to take one of the most important tests of your academic life??
