Today, I found an injured rabbit by the side of the road. I was about to take it to the local vet, when my husband picked it up and casually snapped its neck. "No rabbit's worth my money" he said, forgetting that he's been a jobless moocher for over 3 years. Pass me the goddamn divorce papers. FML

The big difference is that he didn't do it out of mercy, but selfishness and with a clear lack of empathy. And if the vet couldn't take care of it they probably would've called a wildlife rehab place.

With the context of him not working, claiming ownership of the money only you are working for, and his choice to kill the rabbit in front of you, having to know it would upset you... what a crap sack. Have some serious talks with him about this, and if they don't go well, maybe it is time to leave. That being said, a vet wouldn't have done anything with wildlife. Trying to save a single wild rabbit is really a waste of resources too. They breed like... well... bunnies. Their purpose is prey animal, and they are plentiful. We just feel extra bad for them because they're extra cute prey animals.

Please tell me your going to divorce him. If I saw anyone do that to a harmless rabbit nevertheless my husband I would've left him on the side of the road and gone straight to a lawyer for papers

Wow what a bastard. I accidentally ran over a baby bunny while I was mowing our lawn and I cried about it for days. If this guy can do that to an innocent animal then I can't imagine what he would do to another human.

My issue isn't with the killing of the rabbit. It's WHY he killed the rabbit and what he said about the money.
