Today, I found an injured rabbit by the side of the road. I was about to take it to the local vet, when my husband picked it up and casually snapped its neck. "No rabbit's worth my money" he said, forgetting that he's been a jobless moocher for over 3 years. Pass me the goddamn divorce papers. FML

No need for divorce papers. Just throw him into a sarlacc pit. World: improved.

The big difference is that he didn't do it out of mercy, but selfishness and with a clear lack of empathy. And if the vet couldn't take care of it they probably would've called a wildlife rehab place.

Your husband did the right thing in ending the suffering of a wounded wild animal. He could have been more sensitive about how he did it, however.

Not if it wasn't a fatal injury. Op was going to bring it to the vet, where it could be healed and probably rehabilitated.

Yeah. You might never read this, but I hope all goes well with whatever path you take with him. Honestly, since he's been a jobless moocher for three years, and it certainly sounds like the rabbit was the straw that broke the camel's back, I'd go ahead and divorce him. But I wish you the best in whatever path you choose OP.

What a ******* twat. Poor rabbit... that made me sad

Yeah this guys is shit, but damn to be able to just do that. Impressive not going to lie.

Poor guy, but to be fair the vet would probably do the same.

They wouldn't snap it's neck, they put it to sleep without it suffering.

Snapping its neck is a quick and painless way of ending a rabbit's suffering. No need to get a vet involved.

I really doubt that they would spend a some what expensive drug for a wild rabbit. It doesn't hurt getting your neck snapped, you die in 1 second.

So, #130. You find a wild rabbit on the side of the road. You're going to risk picking it up (it's going to kick, fight and panic), drive to a vet, and pay... what, $200 to have an animal you don't own put down? I sure as shit won't. This guy was as effective as the vet with a 100% cost reduction. Oh, and don't abandon these animals there, either. Then the clinic has to foot the bill and that's bs.

I'm sorry he really sounds like a dick. But that last sentence would be a great hashtag for others in similar situations. #passmethedivorcepapers

Yeah if he can kill an injured animal with will he do to a human also what about family pets

Casual abuse to animals is one of the biggest warning signs of someone who ends up being abusive to people. Even aside from hurting the innocent animal, don't miss that this was incredibly emotionally abusive to YOU by forcing you to watch. I think you were joking with the divorce bit, but you need to seriously consider your future with this man if he treats both living creatures AND your feelings this callously.

Huge difference between mercy killing an injured animal and being a serial animal mutilating psychopath.

176, Indeed - and the OP's husband definitely qualifies as the latter.

Absolutely not. You have no ground to stand on when saying that. OPs post framed her husband negatively and yes, his words were harsh and terrible but what he did is normal and commonplace in the vast majority of the real world.

No rodent is worth it no matter what your hubby may otherwise be.

I really hope you mean the husband
