This is really awesome. Your cat is still alive and purring, and that is the most important thing. I can't even imagine the joy you must have felt when you saw it. You even gave a fallen feline an excellent burial, with full fanfare. You may want to let your neighbors know that you had to bury a cat, in case it was theirs, but at least you were able to give it a proper a burial regardless of its origins. I understand that the experience was very stressful for you though, and I think you should really bring your cat inside before something bad can happen.
How could you not recognize your own pet?
I'd give anything to be in your situation. My cat died a few days ago. It's one of the saddest things ever :(
I'm sorry for your loss. :(
To any dumb asses asking how she didn't know it wasn't her cat trying thinking. 1. Sometimes cats call look very similar without being blood related. I know because my roommate and I have two black cats and only way to tell them apart is to look at their eyes. 2. If the cat was hit by a car then there's a chance of the body being disfigured.
HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW THAT ISN'T YOUR CAT!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A BLACK CAT AND THERE ARE ABOUT 5 OTHERS ROAMING AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD. and I know which one is mine…

What a catastrophe.
At least you still have your own cat, and didn't leave that one rotting in the sun.
