I'm a product of exactly that. My father wasn't present for my birth since he was stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam War. Was lucky to have him return about 6 months after my birth as my parents went on to have 3 more children, my 3 other siblings. So my prayers are with both of you that he returns safely!
