YDI for ... 1)having bad parents that care about a horse more than their own childs edumacation 2) having a selfish sister 3) FOR NOT HAVING YOUR OWN LIL PIGGY BANK OF MONEY SAVED FOR COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(imean if you really wanted to go you wouldn't be depending on other peoples money && now we know especially not our parents money)
I have horses. they are the most important thing in my life and will ALWAYS come first.
me to!! I agree completely!!
Just get a student loan. They'll give those to pretty much anyone. Problem solved.
How about you work for a couple of years and go to college later? Or get a loan. Or a part time job. For some, horses are members of the family so surgery for a hrose can be seen as the priority. But regardless, how about you educate your family on a little thing called equine insurance. I have my horse covered precisely so this sort of situation will not arise.
I agree with 85 and 83
live with it. the horse is worth it!
Your sister can't get a loan or scholarship to cover her horse's medical bills. You, however, can for college.
Yeah, financial aid is pretty much off limits to those who are "horse poor" But it depends on how much the horse is worth too. If it a prized competition horse, it can continue to make LOTS of money. Basically, if the horse is worth $250,000 you obviously don't want to lose all that money, especially since insurance rarely pays it all back. Just saying, unless your parents flat out said that to you, you're probably going to be okay, my horse is having surgery and it's not like it's a trillion dollars. Maybe $1000, which is fairly insignificant in the horse world... just saying.
AWWWS poor horse. Hope it turns out alright!
It's not your parent's responsibility to pay for your college, it's their choice. Stop being so selfish.
It's not as if the parents didn't plan on paying for it- obviously they had told the OP that they would, or else this wouldn't even be an issue. She wasn't just assuming they would pay for it without any basis for that assumption. Besides, it ISN'T selfish for a sibling's horse to be given more worth than a human's college education- which is one of the most important things in life needed in order to be a successful adult?

You must end the horse. An unfortunate accident would work.
Someone else paying for their college ed wasn't even an option for 90% of the people I know. Get a loan, get a job, pay for it yourself.
