Today, I found out my identity was stolen. The person got credit cards in my name and didn't pay the bills, which has ruined my near perfect credit. The worst part about all of this is that I can't turn the person in. It's my mom, and sending her to jail wouldn't really work out for anyone. FML

You have to give respect to earn respect, if she has no problem stealing off her own son, then you should have no problem turning in your own mother. Show her you obviously don't care about turning her in if she's not going to care about stealing off her kid.

You think the only thing ruined is your credit? The credit card companies will go after you for payments and if you don't pay up they can garnish your wages for the money. Turn her in.

Turn her in OP. She obviously doesn't give a damn about you. She's probably a manipulative sociopath who just wants her own way, and doesn't care who she hurts in the process. You wanna pay all that money she owes? Because you will have to, if you don't report her. And she'll just do it again, maybe to one of your siblings. How will turning her in not work out for anyone? It'll work out for you, because you'll get your credit back, and not have to spend thousands repaying money you don't owe. It'll work out for your mom, cause MAYBE, just MAYBE she'll learn an important lesson. Why would you want a relationship with a person like that?

I'm sorry but you should just turn her in. I mean come on. Okay here are two choices: Would you rather repay for thousands of dollars out of your pocket? Or would you rather see your mother be in jail for a couple months so she may not hurt ANYONE ELSE in the family? Please, just do it. Because if you don't, you'll spiral into debt and your mom may go onto another family member to steal from.

Turn her in, OP. Otherwise, you will continue enabling her to make poor life decisions that you will forever be paying for, literally and figuratively. She is a grown-up who obviously has at least some smarts to fashion this credit card scam, so she can accept the consequences as a grown-up as well. You are NOT your mother's keeper, nor should you be.

turn her in or she will ruin your life forever. et a lawyer and explain to him shad going on! I wouldn't want to report my mom neither but if it means getting bad insurance and even be homeless it's one to think about yourself. it will be hard for you your whole life if you don't stop her
