Today, I found out that absentmindedly correcting my boss's use of the word "whom" could result in my immediate termination. FML

its unfortunate you have to work with someone who power trips and doesnt want employee input. my work fortunately encorages simple corrections like that in the name of improvement and service.

Stargate Universe, Season 2 episode 16 "The Hunt" at 04:40 into it. Anybody else notice?

It's Boss' and not Boss's.. Never correct your superior, don't you ever watch movies??

actually, the possessive for 1 boss is boss's the possessive for more than one boss is bosses'

No it can't, not legally at least. What it CAN do is piss him(her) off enough that (s)he goes looking for a fair reason to fire you.

If it was on a letter, memo or some other work-related document, that sucks. If you corrected someone's grammar in casual conversation, you deserved it.

I'm a grammar Nazi, so I would have done the exact same thing. Good work, young grasshopper.

Still a better love story than twilight...

I find people who do that crap very pretentious. It's like you're saying you're smarter than them. Even if that is so its not polite to correct people's grammar unless you're editing a paper they wrote or something. I wouldn't say you deserved to be fired over that but perhaps this was just the last straw for your boss.
