Today, I found out that absentmindedly correcting my boss's use of the word "whom" could result in my immediate termination. FML

Isn't that illegal to do or something?

Whom could have seen that coming? Not me, my psychic unicorn, or Jesus. Case closed, you boss is an asshole.

If that was me, on the way out saying...... My attorney will be in touch!!

when he said "your fired" you should have replied with "let me call my lawyer"

I was fired a few years back for saying something stupid also. Two different lawyers basically told me that a person can be fired for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all. As long as it is not age/sex/race/etc. discrimination, a lawsuit will go nowhere. Good luck with the job hunt!

I'm curious: what did you correct, and to what? The ways it's worded, this FML states the boss used the word "whom" incorrectly. Since the word is almost never used, I find this surprising. I'm wondering whether OP in fact "corrected" a correct usage to an incorrect one?

Some rather pompous people whom [sic.] should know better use it as an indiscriminate substitute for "who" in order to sound educated. It's becoming like "myself" in that respect.
