Today, I found out that instead of having four wisdom teeth, I have eight. They all have to be removed as soon as possible, which happens to be over the Christmas break. I get to spend my whole vacation in excruciating pain and a swollen face to boot. FML

If your orthodontist can ONLY find time during your break to pull your wisdom teeth you need to find a new one. I find it funny how they insist to take out your teeth, but could only schedule you late in December.. Either the story is a little fudged, or your orthodontist has a long list of patients whom suddenly "must" have their wisdom teeth removed.... either way, I'd think I'd look into a new one..

seriously i had all 4 cut out and i mean cut out during thanksgiving last year they give you pain meds that make you feel good and you recover in less then 2 weeks also the ice cream and yogurt meal for 2 weeks is amazing the swelling is the worst though be happy you dont have to go to school with a squirrel cheecks thats the worst part

actually, the pain isnt that bad. itll hurt if you try to eat solids to soon, but its really not that bad. plus you get really powerful painkillers. i promise :)

I also had to have eight teeth removed all at once - four wisdom, four molars - and I was fine. No swelling, very little pain, and I was able to go to prom the next day. The only bad thing about it was not being able to drink out of a straw...I'm kind of messy when I have to drink straight from the glass, ha. But you will be fine, don't worry about it.

Guys, they plan to take them out over holiday breaks so you don't have to miss school and get behind. It's called "planning ahead". Look into it. Op, it's not so bad. The swelling goes down fairly quickly, and they give you awesome drugs for pain. By the third day my entire leg could have fallen off and I'd have been nothing more than slightly amused by the prospect of having to hop because my mouth no longer hurt but they said to keep taking the drugs for "just in case" pain.
