Today, I found out that instead of having four wisdom teeth, I have eight. They all have to be removed as soon as possible, which happens to be over the Christmas break. I get to spend my whole vacation in excruciating pain and a swollen face to boot. FML

Boo freaking hoo! I had to get all of mine out, AND they were impacted, so they had to break my aw bones to get to them. I also woke up during the surgery and felt them digging around in my mouth AND the pain killers made me throw up! I lived though! And so will you! Grow up!

geez, take a chill pill. Just because you had a crappy experience doesn't mean everyone else just has to suck it up and get over it. You obviously think you have a right to complain about your experience, so other people must have that right too. Yes, you had something awful happen. I'm pretty sure getting 8 wisdom teeth extracted is pretty awful too.

That sucks, but it's not the end of the world. If you do what the doctor says, then you'll hopefully heal up pretty quickly. Stock up on DVDs (even the most voracious reader, like myself, probably won't be able to focus on reading with the discomfort that comes) and applesauce, and take care of yourself. Unless you get dry socket, healing time isn't that long. I was eating solid food in 3 days (not like steak or anything, but bread, etc.) and was back to 100% in under a week. That was with all 4 coming out at once, and they weren't in ideal positions. I'd wager it will take longer for 8 teeth to heal, but it shouldn't take your whole break.

The dr who removed my wisdom teeth did a good job my mouth was only swollen for three days and not very bad. I hope yours goes just as good.
