Today, I found out that instead of having four wisdom teeth, I have eight. They all have to be removed as soon as possible, which happens to be over the Christmas break. I get to spend my whole vacation in excruciating pain and a swollen face to boot. FML

@76 - Surgeries can't always be scheduled just a day ahead of time (and yes, this is a surgery). OP could be away at college, or she could not want to worry about the pain and drugs affecting her schoolwork, or maybe the surgeon's schedule is full. Two months isn't really all that long.

Besides the "8 wisdom teeth" part, this probably happens to a lot of people. I had 4 wisdom teeth taken out during Christmas break. Sucked pretty bad, especially since my school back then kept shrinking the winter break.

ya well I had my wisdom teeth taken out dec. 17 only to wake up from the anesthesia to find out my brother had committed suicide. so you know, there's worse things than being sore. my mouth was fine by Christmas. you'll be fine

I had the same thing done last year in December at the beginning of break- it's not that bad. the drugs pretty much handle it. just prat you get a good surgeon- mine was awesome

Oh man that suck. Sorry, OP! I'm worried enough about having just my four wisdom teeth removed. But it'll be okay. A couple of months ago I took care of one of my best friends after her wisdom tooth surgery. Hopefully you'll have people around who know how to nurture, and can maybe spoil you a little extra for the holidays :] Maybe one day this will be a memory you can laugh at -- or at least the beginning of a really awkward pick-up line.
