Today, I got a call from the Hollister manager yelling at me for not showing up for work that night. I was never informed I got the job. I missed my first day of work. FML

I was fired from Hollister without ever being told.. I wouldn't worry about it, they're a screwed up company.

Did you reply with "I've always though it's traditional to be actually offered the job prior to reoprting to the workplace...."

all they do is keep the lights off in their store caus theyre too cheap to light it & dont want people to see the ridiculous prices on their clothes. america is brainwashed thinking they HAVE TO HAVE their clothes..

LOL @ #3,that was my first reaction too. However, you take what you can get at that age, and especially in this economy. So, FYL that they didn't even bother to let you know...

I work for one of the A&F companies also, it's weird that your manager would do that because you would have had to attend an orientation session before your actual first day of work they just don't put you into the wilderness like that!

Yeah about that.... I worked at that company a long time and I can tell you they wouldn't give two sh*ts if you didn't show up, especially for your first day. If ya don't show up, they're just going to forget you even exist. I have a hard time believing your story

Haha let me tell you how organized Hollister is. I went in there with a friend to visit a girl who worked there and we both got jobs almost instantly. Seriously. We worked that day and at the end of the day I decided I didn't want to work there so I signed my name as a different friend and this friend took over the job for me. Yes, I worked at Hollister for 6 hours and was able to literally give my job away all without the upper management not giving a shit. Oh and two employees were caught having sex in the changing rooms on the job and instead of being berated and fired, they were lightly teased. What a well-oiled machine that Hollister is.

haha yea when I worked at Hollister it was the chairs you wanted to watch out for because they were notorious for employees having sex on them. OP you don't want to work at Hollister anyways nothin but some stuck up consumer ******! Become your own person!

When you go the the holister website you see a shirtless guy with ripped abs and shorts on. Reminds me of walking around in the Castro district out here in San Francisco. Why would anyone wanna work at a place where shirtless guys walk around anyway. That's just creepy and it makes me feel like less of a man when I have to look at guys with six packs modeling clothes that I gotta wear with my one pack. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go exercise off the McDonalds I just ate

I have never said this before, but I doubt this is true. You have to fill out tax paperwork and prove you are a citizen before you are allowed to start work, generally. And if you really didn't know...I am with #7, a message was probably left for you with someone who forgot to give it to you. Talk to your boss explaining the situation, and I am sure he will understand. And to really prove the point, I would get to work 15-20 minutes early every day for awhile.

I've worked for A&F for almost two years now, and let me tell you that the managers have ALOT of stuff to deal with. Yes, you definitely should have been called and told you were hired, but please realize, with the amount of stuff that goes on on a daily basis this is a MILD mistake.
