Today, I got an email from my University informing me that I was invited to an exclusive dinner for 25 people. As I continued to read through the email, I discovered that I wasn't lucky or special, but that the dinner was for financially unstable students. They think I'm a charity case. FML

Today, I was invited to a special meal for receiving a scholarship from my college. My mom refuses to take me because “your sister’s going there too and didn’t get a scholarship; it wouldn’t be fair to her.” I guess fairness doesn’t apply to me. FML

Today, I learned that, even after several interviews and congratulations for getting the job, you still might not get the job. I just received an email stating that my accepted offer is now rejected. I already treated my close friends to an expensive dinner to celebrate. FML

Today, I attended my school's special invitation-only awards ceremony, relieved that I was getting a much-needed scholarship. I watched all my friends go up and win scholarships. In the end, I only got a certificate for doing well on the PSAT. My whole family showed up for this. FML

Today, I went to a fancy charity dinner. I'm a schmoozer, so I decided to introduce myself to someone important. I asked enthusiastically, "So, how are you involved with all of this madness?" He frowned at me. I then remembered that this particular charity assists people with mental issues. FML

Today, I found out that I was denied for work study eligibility by my college. I went to my financial advisor to ask why. It wasn't my grades or attendance. Apparently my father makes too much money for me to get a job at the school. My dad was fired 3 months ago and has been out of work since. FML

Today, I found out I didn't get accepted into a program I was nominated to attend at work that all other applicants with less experience than myself did. I found out when they asked if I had gotten the acceptance email. They didn't even bother telling me I was rejected. FML

Now come on you guys, maybe in Canada there are some people who still value pride. I know, I know being a poor citizen of the U.S. is tough, and I know, like most of you I would trade what's left of my dignity for FREE FOOD, but you have to keep it all in perspective. Perhaps the OP is a rich young girl (bubblegummm13 anyone?) and isn't accustomed to a life in which the parental checkbook doesn't exist, and being labeled as "financially unstable" is a greater insult than someone pointing out that the brand name on your shirt doesn't match the one on your shoes! Always think twice and always try to see the situation from the OP's point of view, and remember that NO ONE is going to read your mean-spirited rambling comments, and even if someone did they wouldn't agree with you.

agreeing with everyone essentially, a chance to meet other students in the same boat, and a free dinner, what do you have to lose. your fml seems like "the system thinks i need help, fml". suck up that pride and find that maybe you could use a little help.
