Today, I got into a bad car accident, where I got severe whiplash, swollen knees, and cuts everywhere. I called my boss to let him know I wouldn't be able to make it in and he fired me for being 'not dependable'. FML

Today, I got in a car accident on the way to work. I received an abusive phone call from my boss saying he shouldn't have to cover my lazy ass. I was driving to cover his shift because he was too drunk to show up to work. FML

Today, I was in a car accident on the way to work. I called my boss and told him I had to deal with the police and the accident report and didn't know how long it would take. He got mad and said I "should have picked a better time to do this". FML

Today, I helped save three people, including a newborn, when I was sole witness to a bad car crash. My boss said that wasn’t a valid reason to be 4 hours late for work and fired me. FML

Today, in my rush to do my hair and get to work, I managed to trip over my dog, hit my eye on the counter, and sprain my ankle. I arrived at work with a black eye and a painful limp. My boss didn't care, and fired me for showing up late. FML

Today, I got rear-ended while on my way to work. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't pregnant, suffering from a horrible UTI, and running a fever. My boss called in sick, so now I'm stuck running the office alone. With whiplash. FML

Today, I was supposed to start my first day of work at my dream job. However, my car had other plans and refused to start. When I called my boss to tell him I was going to be late, he told me not to come in at all and fired me on the spot. FML

Today, when I got to work, I found out that I was being laid off. Two hours later, I found out my boss had my name on the wrong list. I was elated. I went to lunch, but on the way back was rear-ended, in the rain. I was an hour and a half late getting back to work. I was fired upon returning. FML

Today, I found out that my boss was actually legally obligated to send me to the hospital after I was hit on the head while working. I had to finish the entire work day while heavily concussed, and by the time I got to the ER I had lost complete feeling in my right side. They asked me to come in the day after. FML

If OP lives in the same country you do, that will not work. He/she was let go for not coming in. If OP wasn't under contract, the boss is allowed to fire for any non-discriminatory reason. Unfairness does not count as discrminatory. Unless OP became disabled in the accident and the boss specifically said "you'll be unreliable now that you're wheelchair-bound", OP really doesn't have a case. FYL

Do I really have to be the first to say this? Some bosses are just total jerks. Someone can be late for the first time in 10 years and they can be fired, just because the Boss has the power to do so. It doesn't matter if you were late or couldn't get in because of something serious and out of your hands, or if it really was your fault. For some Bosses, the first time is enough, no matter the condition. You don't have to be late multiple times or not come in multiple times for this to happen.

with a signed note from a physician to prove you were injured you may be able to sue him for wrongful termination, he would have to pay you your current wage/salary for up to 5 years and you won't have to work there either, you can get another job and have double income
