Today, I got pulled over. Suspicious that I'd been drinking, the police officer made me walk a straight line and recite the alphabet. I failed both. I was completely sober. FML

Haha :) today, my history teacher didn't know the alphabet, so you're all good :D

why were you talking about the alphabet in history?

eleniel421 28

Because writing systems, including the alphabet, were invented thousands of years ago?

don't feel bad! I can't walk in a straight line either! even if I'm sober!!

if you can't walk a straight line when you're sober, it might be a good idea to see a neurologist about that. as for the abcs.... seriously? you're on your own.

Are you positive that you weren't drunk?

pojihu 6

you guys do know that the cop probably made him recite it backwards

Field sobriety tests in the US are nationally standardized and they're not asked to be recited backwards.

58- I've been asked to recite it backwards. of course, I was also told I stole my own car and had a drunken group of rednecks telling the officer, who I found out they were friends with (talking about coming over the next Friday), I was high and drunk. made me blow into his breathalyzer then had me breathe into a second cop's when he showed up, also swabbed my mouth for a drug test. asked me why I was so nervous and my knees were shaking, I told him because I had been surrounded while in my car by 20+ drunks for 20minutes before he got there, with them threatening me and telling me to get out of the car, he said he believed I had something to hide and then asked to search my car. said yes, he searched, nothing found, and let me go after saying that if they found anything broken or missing or there were any strange reports I'd be a prime suspect. the entire time we were still surrounded by the group of drunks yelling and hollering and telling him what he should make me do etc. 15 minutes after I was done being held, the sea of drunks finally parted enough for me to pull away and the cop stayed leaning against his vehicle having a chat.

132-I managed it ;) haha :)

sounds like the kind of cop that gives cops a bad name... unfortunately there are always " bad apples"

Not where I live. Here you have the straight line first, abc's second, and if you fail both those they give you a breathalyzer.

@58 I heard them ask some drunk guy outside a bar to recite the alphabet backwards, english wasn't even this guys first language, some how he passed and they let him go, even though he was actually drunk.

You can't walk or talk! So the Cop gives you back your license and tells you to have a good night?

Let me help you with that alphabet thing: I C U R N MBCL You're welcome.

am I the only one who had to say that out loud to understand it?

RedPillSucks 31

That would make a great eye chart too.

I wracked my brain to come up with a clever response, but I'm out of practice. I'll just say bravo. :)

maybe the dude got nervous. but thats not an excuse for not being able to walk. you can come to me and I can teach you to walk. first the basics : Get on your knees.

You shouldn't be driving! Your stupidity could kill us all. Are you sure you can drive?

What? You need a PHD to drive nowadays?
