unfortunately for you, weight discrimination is proven to be more severe than racial discrimination or sexism. being a fat girl is two strikes against you.
Don't sue, because you wouldn't want to work for them, anyways. DO alert them to as many sources as you can think of: BBB, FTC, local media, local business journals, etc.
12: it is against the law-they're discriminating against her bcuz she's fat(or at least he said so). The only reason u couldn't hire somebody would b if she weren't fit for the job. Her weight isn't a factor they can consider.
They're totally allowed to do that. We don't know what kind of job, we don't know anything - but if hospitals are allowed to not hire smokers, places are allowed to hire non-fatties. It's not even discrimination because you don't know what the other people have for their credentials. Don't like it? Hit up a gym, try "dieting" and "self restraint". It sucks. We've all done it. @#47 You don't know what the hell you're talking about, I'd suggest you drink a nice warm glass of STFU and leave the adults around to talk about subjects.
i wouldnt bother suing or anything. when it comes down to it, its your word against theirs. the guy could have been talking about anything and can easily say he didnt want to hire you because he simply found someone better suited for the job. just start taking better care of yourself or find another job.
It's amazing how many crystal balls there are on this site. Can any of you see if the OP is overweight or not? Do you know her personally? According to her post, the manager whispered that she did well and then the owner whispered "no fat chicks". It seems pretty clear that he was referring to the OP, however we don't know what she looks like or if this guy is a jerk. I have seen guys who have no room to talk (beer belly, butt ugly) make the rudest comments about the appearance of women. And the only thing I could see wrong with these women is that they don't looklike supermodels. For some reason many men (not all) think they are entitled to judge women even when they are sorely lacking aesthetically as well. They are clearly making up for personal SHORTcomings. I agree that you are much better off regardless of what you look like. Get a job at the competition, bust your tail, make his business look bad and excel in your own life. It's the best revenge.
I'm just learning about this now in Business Law and HR Management and you can totally sue their asses for discrimination. You're in a protected class (Gender) and in this case they are discriminating against you based on physical appearance and I guess capability. If you weren't applying to become a firefighter where you need to be able to lift and run with 200 pounds on your shoulder, go ahead and sue them for discrimination.

People can be so disrespectful. :/ As though your weight has any bearing on how well you can do the job. It sounds like the owner was just being a jackass, so you're probably better off not working there at all. And btw, we have no idea what the OP looks like. The comments about she needs to lose weight are just stupid.
What a dick. You didn't deserve that.
