Today, I had just finished writing my rough draft essay, so I went to sit by the pond. A giant moth suddenly flew down and attacked me, causing me to drop my binder in the pond, ruining the essay. I discovered in the aftermath that the moth was actually a leaf. FML

Too bad it was just a leaf though, because if it was in fact a moth, then your actions would have been totally justified and understandable.

Where did you write the essay -indoors? Why did you then take it by the pond? YDI.

Hahahaha! What was the worst that could have happened if the not-a-moth was a moth? "Oh no!!! Moth-wing dust!!! The most deadly substance to nothing in the world!!!"... You should have said you were attacked by Mothra with a super-leaf...

happens to the best of us haha

Pansy* Insults are more effective when spelled correctly.

There are plenty of giant moths. There's the Giant Leopard Moth, the Giant Emperor Moth, the Giant Sphinx Moth, the Cecropia Moth, the Atlas Moth, and a lot more.

Oh, and I forgot the Luna Moth. Not only does it have a wingspan of up to 4.5 inches, but it's green and could be mistaken for a leaf, or vice versa.

@94: Most of them are found in the southern United States (and since OP is from California, they apply). The Cecropia moth is more often found in Canada, however.
