Today, I had to have a discussion with my 54-year-old mother about showering. She thinks it's perfectly OK to shower only once a week. FML

i hope she at least wears deoderant, or things would get bad pretty quickly. maybe she's trying to force you to move out? haha

You're lucky. My father-in-law showers once every 4-6 weeks...for the past 30 years. He thinks people who bathe every day are "crazy."

Well in her defense, once you get old old, everything that makes you smell either malfunctions or stops working all together. But at 54 she is still many years from all that.

Sadly that's better than my cousins gf She just had her first shower since Christmas just this past weekend. And that's good for her. So FML

My step-grandmother is like that. Sometimes, she won't even take a shower for TWO weeks. *sigh*

Actually, in nursing school, you learn that elderly people don't need to shower as much. They sweat less, and glands don't work as well anymore. If she was active though, that'd be a different a story.
