Today, I had to have a discussion with my 54-year-old mother about showering. She thinks it's perfectly OK to shower only once a week. FML

Actually, your body adapts to how frequently you wash it. So although most of society would deem this "gross" it really isn't that bad.

I thought the reason old people don't shower as often is because it's slightly dangerous for them, what with the bathroom floor being slippery and their bones being frail. Maybe invest in a tub designed for the elderly?

My Grandpa hasn't showered in years. And I live with him. That's nothing compared to what I deal with.

People used to bathe yearly. :/ once a week may be a little skimpy by today's standards, but to me showering daily is excessive.

Umm, actually showering only once every 5-7 days is perfectly healthy. And the BO smell shouldn't be that noticeable unless she doesn't change her clothes more than once a week as well, since clothing absorbs on average 92% of BO for the first 5-7 days it is continuously worn without being washed.

God, many of you who commented need to shower ASAP. You might not be able to smell it yourselves, but to us you do stink.
