Today, I learned that when the power goes out at my house, my family thinks you can no longer flush the toilet. FML

depend if your using cuty or well water cause well water uses the electricity of your house for the water when my power goes out you get one flush gotta love well water

In your family's defense, I spent 10 yeats of my life eith the same problem. It must be genetic.

They could be right depending on were you live, if you live in a area with city provided water then your ok but if you live in a rural area and have your own well and pump then when the powers out you lose water pressure and after the first flush you won't be able to flush anymore, it's not that much of a stretch for them to think that

Remind them when its yellow let it mellow, and when its brown they really need to flush that sucker down

If your parents grew up with a well they aren't completely wrong. If you have a well without a generator for backup power the pump can't work without power. It sucks that they haven't adapted though...

Well it depends if you have city water or a well. My family has a well that runs on electrcity to bring water into the house. So when we lose power we have no water. :( So technically your family isn't dumb.
