Today, I got my graded essay from my teacher. Earlier, he'd said that it was "too specific", and that I should change it to be "more general and debatable". Now that I've got it back, the first comments on the paper are, "Your thesis is too general, be more specific." FML

Today, I received a terrible grade for an essay I worked really hard on. I had two friends, one being an English major, check it over. However, apparently I "clearly didn't use spellcheck" on this essay just like the last one I submitted to her. FML

You guys don't get that you CAN delve TOO much into an analytical essay. Sometimes, when the author says the curtains are blue, he's not always referring to the somber feelings the main character felt along with his severe depression. The curtains are JUST blue. You probably read TOO much into things that are simply stated facts.
