Today, I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal from a fast food restaurant. Turns out, they didn't give me diet. My blood sugar spiked and I was sick for hours later. I'm a diabetic. FML

Today, my manager gave me hell for leaving the restaurant early yesterday. Guilty as charged, but only because I was rushed to the hospital after going into diabetic shock. This assmunch is convinced that I either faked it all to get off work early, or that I'd been eating our own stock. FML

Today, I took a test as part of a job requirement. I took a sip from a bottle of juice, and the lady leading the test gave me a warning. I tried to explain that if I didn't, I would faint. She took the bottle and hid it. 15 minutes later I collapsed. She thought I was faking. I'm hypoglycemic. FML

Today, due to increasing frequency and severity of hypoglycemic symptoms, I went to the doctor. Apparently, the pill may have given me a rare form of temporary diabetes. She wants me to be a case study for the next 12 months. FML

Today, I went out to eat to celebrate getting over the stomach flu. I hadn't eaten solid food in over a week, so I was really excited and ordered my favorite dish. It gave me food poisoning. FML

My mom's a diabetic and she can't taste the difference between diet drinks and regular anymore. But OP, here's a trick I learned from her. If the soda isn't too cold, put a bit on a test strip and feed it into your glucose monitor. If it's diet, it should say "Low" and if it's regular, it will show the sugar content.

I call bullshit. How couldn't you taste the difference? My two sisters and I can always tell (and yes, all three of us are type 1 diabetics). It's rather obvious.

for those of you that said YDI, you should be ashamed of yourselves. there are many people in this world whho suffer from diabetes and that DOES NOT mean that they should be kept from doing something as normal as eating fast food. the people working there need to learn to do their job better.

As a diabetic, I know that you can tell the difference between regular and diet before sucking the whole thing down. If you even suspect that it's regular, ask the waiter to pour you a new one just to make sure.
