Today, I picked up my passport, as my previous one was damaged in a car crash. As the teller warned me that a pattern of damaged passports would result in longer processing periods, she spilled her coffee - all over my new passport. I'm supposed to go overseas in a month. FML

did you, or did you not, slap her in the face?

Stupid woman. Can you get her to explain that it's her fault and waive the waiting period?

definitely her fault. if she's handling passports then coffee shouldn't even be in the vicinity. hopefully you can get a new one in a month!!

They may not be laminated but they're not made of ******* tissue paper... if you wiped it off it should have been slightly discoloured but still fine... the paper is pretty much the same as bank notes. Do you throw out fifty dollar bills if you spill a drink on them?

They won't accept your passport if it is discolored because there is a "hidden" seal.

There is a huge difference. If it doesn't scan properly, then there could be a issue. They won't let you use the passport. I had to get a new one, because mine got too wet when I got stuck in a rain storm.

How bad was your car crash that it destroyed your Passport!?

Maybe the car rolled, overturned, OP had just crawled out forgetting her passport, walked a few meters to call the police when a mini-explosion occurred, burning the passport??

Hopefully she would be able to issue a new one as it was indeed her fault. Good luck!

Don't feel sorry for her - you have to get your renewal passport through the mail

She better have expedited it for free in that case. Hope it gets processed in time.

#10: Obviously, because "going overseas" can ONLY mean going to the Middle East. There's no other destination that's "overseas" in the entire world. OP: That one shouldn't have counted, obviously, because it was her own damn fault.
