It's alright, OP. Since she's a stranger, she should have just said, "Thank you," and walked away instead of correcting you. It sounds like she tried to guilt trip you a little.

Eh, I have a metal rod on my spine and if someone complimented me on my posture, I might joke around and say something like that to shock them... but I wouldn't be a b**** about it. Don't worry too much :P
