Today, I purchased an app to track my period. When my mother asked me why I got it, I told her I was going to use it so I knew when to not go on a date because I don't want to be uncomfortable during a long movie. She slapped me in the face and called me a dirty prostitute and a liar. FML

Actually, my sister was one of those unfortunate women that had really terrible cramps. To the point of throwing up, etc. It wasn't until a cyst burst that the gyno realized something was amiss. I'm definitely not saying that this is what the OP experiences, but stranger things have happened. We simply don't have enough info to judge this fully. Either way, I'm sorry to hear it OP. :(

I sincerely doubt that your discomfort in a movie would be the legitimate cause of you getting this app. It seems far more likely that you would want to use it to avoid any pregnancy mishaps or any other awkward sexual situations that come from your period. However if you did honestly mean the general idea that you described OP why couldn't you just tell your mom that you were curious and wanted to find the general time that it would occur (if you couldn't already guesstimate that as is) and use the knowledge to plan long term things accordingly. That would have actually made sense.

Wooa, lots of people here not knowing shit about having a period. "Obviously it can't be so discomforting you'd track it for other reasons than unprotected sex!!!!!", jeez. Hard to believe some people still seem to think it's just a bit of blood you're not even noticing in 2011. FYL OP.
